The Strangest Houses In The World

3.National Centre for the Performing Arts, China

This futuristic looking building is the National Centre for the Performing Arts, situated in Beijing, China. Because of it’s shape, most people just call it The Egg or the Water Drop. The exterior of the building created a lot of controversy when it was first suggested. Beijing is a historical city and has many old, historical buildings. A lot of people were worried that this futuristic design would look out of place in a city like Beijing.  However, the french architect who designed this building knew what he was talking about. He made sure the outside of the building was made out of titanium and highly reflective glass. So it would just reflect the buildings around it and blend into the city environment, instead of standing out. The building is also surrounded by a huge artificial lake and the lake is surrounded by a green garden belt. All in all this gives the place a really soothing, serene atmosphere in the midst of a busy city.
