Calabasas Estate – Ancient Pieces
Stephen Samuelson, the house’s artitect, admitted to have been inspired by “various interpretations of adobe in Persian, Moroccan, Spanish, and Southwest American cultures.” Looking at the estate’s interior, one sees that this is true. It is possible to find antique carved panels, unique inside doors, design details coming from Africa, Asia, and Middle East. One of the most impressive pieces is the front door, which used to serve as an entrance to a North Indian fort. Here you understand the meaning of the saying “My house is my castle.”
