8.Hobbit House
This is not in fact Bilbo’s house and it’s not a photo from the set of the Hobbit movie. This is a real home. Simon Dale, the owner of this house built it with his own hands. You might wonder why did he do this. Well, the answer is very simple. Simon was fed up with insanely huge mortgage payments. Simon lives in Great Britain and prices for property there are very high, no matter what you do. Buying a house is nearly impossible and renting is even more expensive. So, having no building experience at all, Simon found a hill in Wales and decided to build himself a house there. He used natural materials while building. The carcass of the house is made of wood and clay, there’s only some plastic that helps make the roof waterproof. In order to make his house blend in with the environment he covered it in soil. Voila – Hobbit House is done. It took him 4 months and only cost him 3000 pounds.
