The Strangest Houses In The World

9.Bibliotheca Alexandrina

This building is meant to be a replacement for  long gone Alexandria library that was burned down. The new building is massive, but you couldn’t tell exactly how big it is without going inside. It was important that the building blends into the surrounding city and doesn’t really impact the skyline of Alexandria. That’s why the library has a slanted circular shape and goes four storeys underground. The roof of the building has many glass windows that provide light. Around the building there’s a massive wall that has letters of every alphabet carved into it. Bibliotheca Alexandrina has a reading room that occupied almost half of the building and is divided into 8 terraces. It can fit 2000 people at the same time. The library also has an exhibition space and houses the museum of history and science.
